Škoda Elroq RS 2026 - Compact EV SUV review

Škoda Elroq 2026 Škoda Elroq 2026 Škoda

The 2026 Škoda Elroq RS represents the most performance oriented version of the brand’s new compact electric SUV. Positioned below the Enyaq in the model hierarchy, the Elroq is built on the Volkswagen Group MEB architecture and has been engineered to blend electric efficiency with increased output and everyday usability. The RS variant introduces a dual motor drivetrain, reinforced chassis components, and distinctive exterior and interior details while retaining full five door practicality. Early international test drives and confirmed technical specifications indicate that the model is primarily designed for European customers, with selective global availability under evaluation.

Table of contents:

Electric Powertrain And Performance

The Elroq RS is equipped with a dual motor all wheel drive electric powertrain producing approximately 250 kW of total system output. This configuration places the RS version at the top of the Elroq lineup in terms of acceleration and traction. Manufacturer data indicates a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of about 5.5 seconds, positioning the vehicle among the quicker compact electric SUVs in its class.

The drivetrain is supported by a lithium ion battery with a gross capacity of roughly 82 kWh. This allows the vehicle to balance performance with usable range. Confirmed technical highlights include:

  • Two permanently excited electric motors
  • Standard all wheel drive layout
  • DC fast charging capability up to 175 kW
  • AC charging capacity up to 11 kW
  • WLTP driving range of up to 500 km

Advanced thermal management and regenerative braking systems help maintain consistent output during repeated acceleration and prolonged high load operation.

Chassis And Driving Hardware

The RS specification introduces a sport tuned suspension system with a reduced ride height compared to standard versions. Engineers adjusted spring rates, damping, and steering calibration to deliver sharper responses without sacrificing daily comfort. Adaptive DCC dampers are fitted as standard and allow drivers to tailor the vehicle’s behavior.

RS specific hardware includes:

  • Adaptive DCC suspension with adjustable damping settings
  • Progressive steering with a variable ratio
  • Enlarged ventilated brake discs
  • Exclusive alloy wheels measuring up to 21 inches

This setup improves cornering stability and braking endurance while preserving predictable road manners.

Interior Technology And Safety

The cabin follows the brand’s latest digital cockpit concept with a strong emphasis on usability and clarity. A 13 inch central touchscreen is combined with a digital instrument cluster and an optional head up display featuring augmented reality navigation cues.

Key equipment highlights include:

  • RS specific sports seats with integrated head restraints
  • Flat bottom multifunction steering wheel
  • Multi zone automatic climate control
  • Matrix LED headlights with adaptive light distribution
  • Extensive driver assistance systems

Safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and automated parking are available across European specifications.

Market Availability And Pricing

Europe and the United Kingdom are confirmed as the primary launch regions, with market introduction expected between late 2025 and early 2026. Indicative pricing suggests a starting level of approximately EUR 55,000 in continental Europe and around GBP 52,000 in the UK, depending on final specification and incentives.

The United States is not currently an official sales market for the brand’s passenger vehicles. As a result, availability there would require a significant strategic shift. Australia is considered a potential secondary market, where pricing would likely exceed AUD 85,000 due to import duties and regulatory costs.

Comparison With Key Competitors

Within the compact electric performance SUV segment, the Elroq RS competes directly with models such as the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX, Ford Explorer Electric AWD, and Tesla Model Y Long Range. In terms of power output, it aligns closely with the ID.4 GTX while offering a more sport focused chassis calibration.

Compared to the Tesla Model Y Long Range, the Elroq RS delivers slightly lower straight line performance but emphasizes suspension tuning, interior material quality, and traditional control ergonomics. Against newer electric SUVs from Ford and Hyundai, its advantage lies in balanced handling, charging capability, and integration within the mature MEB ecosystem.

The Elroq RS broadens the electric RS portfolio and underlines the transition toward high performance battery electric vehicles. Supported by proven MEB technology and advanced chassis tuning, it strengthens its competitive position in the evolving global electric vehicle market.
